You need to have 2 sgh in your inventory to prevent the item from degrading.

Did you use 100% ech. If you even had only 1 uch, it can drop 2 with no sgh, however with sgh, it shouldn't have dropped 2 I thinks, but only by 1. I could be wrong there.
