I have the same problem but I fixed it by make Cabal folder an exception. Also you can try to disable the anti virus before playing and turn it on again after you done playing.

Eeep! Better to make Cabal/GameGuard folder(s) an exception. Never a good idea to disable anti-virus or firewall; there are always workarounds for "trusted" sources.

Lol, I like BleedingSoul's keyboard... it has 5 more keys than Microsoft's preferred keyboard.

I suggest using Avira, best free anti-virus. ;D

Well a ton of threads where made regarding this on ogplanets forums. But yes technically it is a rootkit, but it is not a malicious one that will harm your computer. As the person stated above just make it an exception and you will good to go. It will not hurt your computer.

Right click it (that file) and hit restore, click overwrite if it asks.

Then on the lower right in the system tray right click the avast! icon, in the menu select avast! shield control and disable it for however long you want while playing. Turn it back on after you're done.

>.< opened my mouth too soon.. just got hit with it as well

in case anyone is still having trouble with this, look under "Maintenance", go to the "Virus Chest", right-click the cabal file that is located there, restore(overwrite if prompted)[note you may need to attempt the restore twice to get it to work], click "Real-Time Shields" then the "File System Shield" menu under that. Click the "Expert Settings" button on the screen. Click "Exclusions" and browse for the file, find it, select it, click add, click ok and you're done :D

If you really want to play now then yes do the work around but as Avast always do for new GG updates since we went to GG from X-trap it new content in your avast logs for Cabal it don't reorganize will say its virus in a week avast will fix this its GG fault not the games.

Avast is bad. AVG/A-squared works fine. Go make a virus. Crpyt it. Upload it to http://scanner.novirusthanks.org/ and 9 times out of 10, Avast never detects it.

And don't be stupid...please click "do not distribute the sample."

You know there is something called "Rouge Spyware Programs"?

Avast! Anti-Virus could be the problem.
Cabal does in fact contain a harmless virus and as you know Avast blocks ALL virus's if their detected.

I've had the same problem and the only thing you have to do is open Avast > Maintenance > Virus Chest
Look for CabalMain.exe > Right Click > Restore

That should work that's what I did and Cabal is working just fine now but keep in mind that you may have to do the same process for future use.

uninstall Mcafee lol

Telling people to remove their security software is a horrible idea.

Option 1: Temp Disable
Option 2: Switch to a different program (My preferences are ESET and Kaspersky)
