Aside from the fact that you said the HD always took action on cases they know about which they don't as proven by the Razer example, the Max magic attack he can have minus pet is 891. Therefore he would need 93% magic amp to hit as hard as he does while maintaining a near 200% crit damage. So yea I would say edited stats are more likely than that.
