Other than not download anything and everything you find on the net, scan every file before opening, and not running javascript and other web scripting languages in your browser instead of trusted sites, not much else can be done to stop infection. Run a good A/V and Anti-Malware combination is advised. If you been infected, best to wipe the drive to full zeros, from sector 1 to the end, repartition, reformat, and reinstall if its a really nasty bugger that can't be wiped out with just a reformat or wipe of the main partition. If you run Firefox I'd suggest looking into the NoScript Extension.

Don't download what you're not supposed to, have a firewall and a free antivirus of your choice.

yea i got an anti virus i should be ok for now but it took that to happen for me to be more careful

Yeah, been there myself, learn through experience and pain unfortunately :/

Still another suggestion is use the software keyboard at the login instead of the keyboard until you get the keylogger removed from your side.
