Few questions for experienced wizzy's

Ok from my understanding, it would do wizards justice to go for Crit Damage builds.
My question is what is the specific difference that makes Amp worse?

Like for example, 1% amp is roughly = to 2-2.2% crit dmg

So a 4% amp 20 crit damage Topaz orb should be around the same as a 30 damage Topaz orb if only a bit worse(I calculated 29.6% in crit terms)right? or am I not understanding something?

Amp depends strictly on how high ur m attack is amp and critical damage is completely different they should never be considered the same
