Been using the built in Windows one for several years now.

No issues, but I also know how to use the internet... And a Linux partition is helpful when you're going through sketchy sites.

Plus an annual computer wipe helps quite a bit, although I know some people do it more frequently. Save the downloads/important files to a flash drive to reinstall faster.

That's basically what I've been doing. For me the loss of performance isn't worth the slight increase in protection. Most AV software won't do anything against a serious threat anyway.

There's no way in hell you could call Kaspersky a light-weight antivirus though.

Also fun story, before I bought a license for Kaspersky in the past I was stupid enough to try to pirate it. Got the worst virus I've ever had through that, I swear I thought my hardware was going to start frying if I didn't reformat right away.
