Same with me. It was working perfectly fine like 10 minutes ago. Now it keeps closing.

I don't have any issues with ESET on W7x64, but I'm against turning off security software for long periods of time.

Step 1: Go to McAfee control panel
Step 2: Look on the left hand side, go to "Restore"
Step 3: Restore "CABALMAIN.EXE" [next to it you'll see like artimis something]
    Step 4: Disable McAfee
    Step 5: Run Cabal
Step 6: Enable McAfee after getting to login screen
Step 7: Redo steps 1-6 every time you start Cabal

Additional fix: (Do this after file is restored with McAfee disabled)
Set exceptions for [Cabal] files so the scanner will skip the folder:

You can do it by right clicking on the McAfee tray icon, then click on virusscan console. Right click on On-Access Scanner, click properties, click on All Processes, click on the detection tab, click on exclutions and click add. You can add the files here, and it won't get scanned.

I don't use McAfee, so anyone wanna confirm?

Not sure, but from what I read only certain versions of McAfee let you do that (Like Enterprise), also came across something saying for you to submit the file to McAfee ._.

    I haven't used Norton/McAfee for 6 years...
