Server problems

So im sure you've all had the problem before where you go to sign in and the loading bar slowly creeps up and then says..."failed to connect to the server, please try again later." Ive been looking online all day for solutions but everything seems to have a different answer. Ive tryed disabling firewalls and anti virus programs but that does nothing. And by the way i was playing fine last night but it seems that after the new st.patricks day update or whatever the problem has been occuring. Please any help would be greatly appreciated :cool:

Unfortunatly not. And my brother is also having same the problem as well. This has happened a couple times before, but it wasnt persistent. Just restarting cabal usually did the trick.

I'm having the very same issue. I was playing earlier today, then shut down for a few hours. I came back, and suddenly i can't connect to the server. UGH.......and also having the same issue with check files.

Just tried it again this morning and still no luck. I was hoping they would of had a patch or something overnight. I'm almost positive now that this caused by the event.

Same here, So sick of this happons everytime EST adds a New Event. When ogp had it they NEVER had this BAD of a problem's connecting. Maybe they should have OGP do the events~!~?

I live in idaho and my whole house is having this exact problem. I tried everysolution: stopping firewall and antivirus programs, reinstalling game and deleting files associated with Cabal and nothing works! helpppp

Yes, believe it is illegal to play cabal through a proxy unless your ISP like in the instance of AoL uses internal proxies.

As far as I know, Vonage uses your existing ISP connection, so doubt they are your actual ISP.

Showing 2 ppl stating they have Road Runner as their ISP provider, so there is a commonality, don't play anymore so can't say if they are part of Cox or some other major cable or dsl provider.

More info is needed, and if it is something to do with the patch, it might be a block of IP addresses a certain ISP or ISP conglomerate uses could have been added into the Block IP sections of the server.

For schits and giggles can someone try and see if they can login using a 10 hour free modem dial in from like Netzero to see if you can even connect into the server from one of you in NY just as a test?

yea roadrunner works but there may be specific ip bans in that isps domain that prevent you from playing for some reason(s), id imagine the chances for being in that same range is pretty low...; just contact help desk probably best solution; i know atleast 4-5 who use roadrunner with cabal without any problems at all.

time warner owns roadrunner, and aol i believe which i know has shared domains for some states. mostly up here in north-east its just time-warner, and satellite companies.

i dont think theres any way to profile weither the connection is a proxy server or not, given the pure numbers of available proxy servers arranged by country; popular programs and vpns would be easily blocked for obvious reasons, but im talking like just normal sock5 proxies, not any vpn program.

I figured out how to solve the problem. Open your internet explorer, go to tools, if your are working offline turn it on. If this is not the case, go to tools, internet options, connections, click lan settings and uncheck everything there.

probably ip restriction as i tested with titans05 today, he was able to connect with proxy, but not with normal ip.

not publicly discussing because dont want a bunch of people using it for no reason, but if your waiting for GM response and need connection to server; pm i will show you how to route your connection to proxy first, but still wait for gm response on your problem..no point in using proxy if GM should un block your ip, or figure a way to get you back ingame with your normal ip.

yea, the ips wont be block ever because nobody is using them in cabal online, and your only using to get access while waiting for GM help, so i really doubt there is any big problem. the GM will evetually handle your IP situation i imagine...

they probably just busy with other higher priority issues atm or havnt read and prepared a response to the players who are dealing with the connection fail problem. it might not even be related to ISP, mebe something else, either way some people are obviously having problems with thier ips and connecting, and the fact you can connect with proxy suggests its serverside problem not issue with your connection at all.

Sorry for the late reply josh, but for those still having trouble and have a configured ancient 56k modem in their system can test if it their ISP or such via a test login using Netzero

Just have to make an account, install their little script to connect, choose a local number to dial into, get connected, then try logging into Cabal. Downsides to Netzero, their dang toolbar that runs top of screen while connected, don't know if a full screen DirectX application will hide it as I haven't done it in years, free account only gets 10 hours a month connection time. So what I suggested going this route is a test login and log back out, 56k modems are pretty slow anyway, get connected you can be pretty sure it is an ISP IP block in Cabal's server code :/

you can google for your specific windows, and find out how to do a "clean boot"; that will disable all the extra 3rd party programs, antivirus, and anything windows doesnt need to operate. That will eliminate any possibility of programs blocking gameguard as there will only be core essential windows services and programs running during clean boot, if you were un-able to join cabal during clean boot, then it could suggest ip restriction. same with proxy connection, if you were able to connect via proxy, but not normal ip. that suggests gameguard is not being blocked, but the server is rejecting the connection from your IP.

logically during a clean boot, you would expect any possible program collision would be solved/avoided. i would suggest trying that and see if itll let you connect, so you can show the GM its not a program running in your pc conflicting with gameguard thats causing it.

they come back after you enable the service, same way you disabled it, in services tab.... there is a drop down menu to disable and enable specific services...you can use an option to hide all microsoft services, and that will prevent you from accidentially shutting down a microsoft service that the computer needs to operate.

just make sure you have the "hide all microsoft services" box checked ON, so that you dont disable anything needed, after you check that box, it should only display the services that are non essential to windows, like your anti virus, firewall programs, other services like that...you can disable those and see if your normal connection works, if it doesnt you can let help desk know, you clean booted, and its not a program collision with gameguard, as you disabled all non essential services at start up...

type msconfig in your start menu search bar or watnot..., then goto services tab

yea that is not big deal if it shows or hides each time u open ,u just hide it to make sure u dont accidentally disable the microsoft services on the list, didnt you realize when you click that box, it hides microsoft services on that list, protecting u from making mistake, it dont matter if the list is showing again when u re-open msconfig, u just re check the box so u can navigate without all the microsoft services in between the 3rd party programs you wanted to disable.....

but anyway if you found and disabled the useless ones and tried starting up without them (like anti virus program ect) then you could just communicate that to help desk about your clean boot and how it still says failed to connect, its could be presumed its not a program on your pc causing the problem.

btw you never got ingame at all? im sure titans05 did before GM daisy came on and helped, i gave him proxy and he was able to connect, so we knew then it was not his connection/programs or anything on his pc at his end that was causing the "failed to connect". it was due to the ip he was logging in with, not sure why it does that, just know once we changed his ip to route through proxy ip before connecting, he was able to get in fine. Thats the key part to identifying what is the cause of the failed to connect, something on your end? or something on theirs? most likely if you can do a clean boot, proxy connect to the server. that would indicate everything is fine on your end you just need your normal ip to not be rejected when attempting to connect.

now hes playing on his normal ip because GM daisy helped fix whatever the problem was with his ip and logging in, but he did confirm about hour or more before GM daisy came, that he was able to access the server via proxy, but not with his normal ip, soon as he turned proxy off it would again say "failed to connect"...it was 100% proof it wasnt on his end in that situation. Thats why i was asking you to do clean boot first, given that you say help desk responded to your ticket, figured you could take the appropriate steps to show you can disabled the useless services, and not having any possible program collision; and to second that point be able to connect via proxy but not normal ip.

anyway im sure GM will see your still having probs n hopefully help you fix whatever is rejecting your connection to the server.

na it might not be block, just weird restriction problem, maybe not related to IPS on thier end but obviously in titans05 case, switching to proxy made the failed to connect to server thing go away alltogether. thats why we were assuming it was related to IP specifically, just logical assumption.

you dont get randomly ip blocked, you have to do ALOT to get ip blocked, first thing would happen is account blocked message, no ip block at all. so you can be confident your account is safe and not the issue at all. because if that was the case, you would beable to create new account and log in fine, its just related to the connection your attempting from your IP to the server for some weird reason..

be patient im sure daisy will be back soon ^_^

i told the proxy details to titans05, if you tried that im sure it would have connected you scottsdc, but that isnt a end solution, you still would want GM to check your accounts' connection problems...weither its related to ip or not i cant say but it appears that way.
