i just downloaded cabal also, then reinstalled it.

i can't connect to the server either :/

Where are you connecting from, use http://cabalonline.net/Main/ to locate the local cabal version for you, for example; only euro IPs can play on euro server... they restrict NA the same way, no outside IPs can connect..
