2nd row of hotkeys

I am a wizard and i am trying to use my 2nd row of hotkeys for my Return Stones and HP & MP potions.This way I can use my 1st row for my spells.Could someone explain to me what I can do to do that w/o going to my 2nd row?I tried to go to Options and enter shift + numbers for it,but it didn't work.Then I noticed it said Expanded Hotkeys and uses the Alt + numbers and tried that,but it still didn't work.I hope I can get some help,cause I'm really stumped:confused:Any help would be greatly appreciated.:D

activate the alt bar so you have two rows for skills

add skills to the alt bar
use alt + [number] to use the skill, unless you've changed it..

if i could log in, i'd test using alt + [number] with the alt bar hidden since this

to do that w/o going to my 2nd row?
might mean you dont want to activate the alt bar
