Well think of it this way. If you have 14% amp, you are getting 14% more damage every hit. If you have 36% cdi, you only get the 36% dmg if you crit. Let's also say that you have 50% crit chance, just for this example. That means that you are critting for 36% extra damage every 2 hits, or, on average, doing 36/2 = 18% dmg on every hit. So if you have 50% or more crit rate then it's best to get the 36% cdi. The only thing bad about crits is that you can get unlucky and not crit for 10 hits in a row, even with 50% rate. With amp you always get the bonus 14%. However you can also get lucky and get 10 crits in a row, but on average it will balance out to one crit every two hits, so the 36% cdi is better.
