when you use them on upgrading something...and if you fail do they disappear? or do they just go down to -1?

with safeguard use enchance core with it
it give more % chance success

Safeguard aren't a waste u just have to be lucky or have alot of
money

When you use safeguards, you must use enhanced cores, or else the safeguard will not take effect and your item will still drop. However, if you succeed while using a safeguard, the safeguard will remain. If you fail while using a safeguard, the safeguard will disappear, and your item will remain the same plus. Hope that clears it up for you.
