Come back after a vacation and all items missing?

I took a very long break from this game, about 7 months (much needed). So I decide to make a come back, I miss this game and the people in it and I miss kicking butt with flashy blue numbers.

So I log in ...lo and behold every fricken item I saved up for is missing, all my alz is gone and my main charactor is butt naked except his account bound K-red!

What the F##K, how piss poor is the game security here? Never told a soul my ingame pass, and it was impossible to outright guess. Is it even possible to get my stuff back or at least be compensated? And how the heck did this even happen in the first place :confused:

It's been a long time too over 7 months since I last logged in (prob longer), if a GM will even bother to trace back that far is a big question. Not to mention I cant recall the exact ammount of items/alz I had.

It's called rumors. Your account being compromised does not imply the server was "hacked". You would have seen mass-hackings or players who actually had decent items/gear (top players) being "hacked". No offense but if the server was "hacked" you are probably the last account they would choose to rip from.

You cant remember anything you had in terms of items? You realize items you had a year ago probably 1/4th the value today given the market with ic2/mo and crafted-epic drops(exception with few pieces).... Anyway all you can do is rough it, You can't expect much if your unable to give much. I don't know what the "limited restoration terms" are, but im assuming this won't turn out to well for you considering you've forgotten everything pertinent to the account, poor account management. BTW You dont have any ss's in your folders of items/chars' gear? Lol.

lol Thank god when i got scammed/hacked I was in the process of quiting. So I had a thread for all my gears for sale. Probably the reason i was hacked they new what i had.

Remembering what you had for gear isn't nerdy or smart, I wouldn't expect you to write it down for future reference, I would assume you use your memory for that.

Where is this proof that the server was compromised? Players claiming they were "hacked" most often results from downloading a keylogger or accepting a infected file from a "friend/guildmate". As of yet I have yet to see actual database leak, just random people claiming they were hacked for their +6 capes ect... I'm not saying they weren't "hacked" but I doubt anyone has had access to the database and decided to "hack" the nobodies they did "hack". No offense but if I had access to all the accounts I definitely would go for someone with epic gear, not sub-par average gear that I'm already/have been wearing, Lol.

When did the claim the servers were compromised actually become fact in the past year?; or even since EST transfer. Did you even have subpass on this account or you can't remember that either? Just asking out of curiosity. Last time I remember legit integrity problems was with alz rip in OGP days. Sure you can assume it was someone "hacking" EST in all reality its a million times easier to just get keylogged by someone you don't expect to steal your acct.

On a side note your sig is borderline hentai, which is slightly disturbing to say the least, lol. Too many naked guys watching the chick with fox/dog ears n a tail. Anyhow gl with the restore I guess, there was a few with accounts restored latley so barring any unforseen circumstances you probably have a decent chance at getting the stuff back if it was legitimately compromised; however everyone has seen people compromise their own accounts and get the items restored, and others don't so its matter of what the GMs decide to do in each situation. Some get the lucky break, some don't for random reasons aka implication they compromised their own accounts.

Pretty much the same response I got when JUST my suit went missing. Gave up after that since I didn't have screenies of the gear 'cause I knew they most likely won't do anything about it without proof. -__-;

i remember when the *mass hackings* were going on. we had like 5 guildys get hacked within a week. i figured meh w/e i'm safe because nobody knows my info. a few days later i was dancing in bi waiting for war or getting ready for bed idr then i see the message "someone is attempting to log onto your account". like 10 sec later i dced bc someone got my info. i was lucky i was around when that happened or else i wouldve lost all my stuffs too because i immedietly changed my info then relogged back in. if it happened to me could happen to anyone....

and btw why would a hacker go after the top people, i dont agree with this. alot of their gear is unique and alot of people know about it, therefore making it more likely you'd get caught imo; i think its much safer to go after then normally geared people.

There was no mass "hackings", what do you mean "get caught"? What items/accounts compromised = more risk getting caught? All items have IDs and the logs could present pretty recent trail of where items went ect. "hacking" nobodies if they had access to the database is more retarded then suggesting the server was "hacked" in the first place, There is absolutely no logic in that at all. I don't believe EST ever admitted to a compromised database so you must be high in that regard.

Every item has a unique id on them. May it be a 50mill item or a 1bill item, it doesnt matter. So yes the if I was going to hack the database I'd target expensive accounts or your paypal/credit card info.

Back on topic 7 month old gear is probably 1/2 the price excluding sigmetal/forci amp and accessories; so if they don't restore the stuff from 7 months ago, atleast it won't take you long to get all of it back by playing the game! ;)

- I clearly NEVER play Cabal from differet places, merely only use forums in different places (this backs my alibi, sorry whitetrash)
- Since my forum account is different from my game account, and the computers are different, at worst a keylogger would have only hacked my useless forum account. Glad a GM sees this, yet more evidence to my cause
- I use forums from my laptop at any unsecure location yes, I play cabal only in 1 secure location on my desktop. Again as stated by GM-Lorkan, feel free to check this. GM please tell me the IP/location of my hacker when the investigation is complete

They won't give you anyones IP thats for sure, let alone location derived from the IP; and anything your laptop gets from unsecure networks can easily be transferred to your home network once you re-introduce the "hypothetically infected" laptop.

Well given its a 7 month timespan for when the gears could have disappeared and the account compromised, I would expect a longer then usual wait. I submitted a ticket that was answered in 2 days or so (not related to account compromised issue so thats probably why), Since they marked you as "in progress" obviously they have read over it and probably already have protocol to follow in regards to investigating the account and what happened with it, given they have put the term "limited restoration" im assuming time can be a factor in the ability to restore accounts but I could be wrong there.

The fact about the keylogging/infected pc/unsecure network is plain and simple. You don't need to live with people to get keylogged, you don't have to have anyone use your computer. There is really no need to go into a debate on theoretical if your computer was compromised - because its never ending. Just wait on your helpdesk ticket, also i wouldn't say not logging in for 7 months, not setting inventory lock is being responsible but that is just my sole opinion.

There is nothing irresponsible about this, it is called "having a life". All MMO's should have the capacity to provide security even for the very casual gamer assuming ofcourse they have not shared their account, used some form of 3rd party programs, or downloaded anything dodgy etc.

That is just my opinion, though I will say all other MMO's I have played seem fine in this regard. Cabal included (with the exception of the multiple hack incidents on 6/2011 where I and many others lost our items).

You have to assume its the users until EST makes official statement that their database/server security was breached. What was there to prove? The GMs restored his stuff they didn't say the compromised account is because of database leak or urbans lack of account management, which is already admitted to by him (not logging in 7 months, no pw change, no inv/char locks). If they do have access to passwords n IDs then subpass's are useless as I imagine they aren't even encrypted like md5 hash for pws.
