thats total BS. Its probably because you have played on multiple IP over your 3-4 year cabal career.

Also if they actually had a security system worth a damn. it wouldn't matter. The only hacked accounts they would have to deal with is scammed ones.

shin0b1- force blader server: mercury, date today, last seen in ch17(the ch i was hacked in). i assume the hackers are Bellwind,Babybell, i dont give a fuk if im exposing players, ive seen them selling the gears of my fellow guildies in apoc. I login to ch 8, and see the same person i accused selling my gears.

p.s. after 36 hours of creating this list we have almost 30 players who have been hacked within a month and a half. roughly 20% of the cabal community is active enough on the forums so a rough guess would be multiplying what we have as hacked players by 5 to get a closer to real idea of how many players have been hacked.

I just got hacked, i found that today at 11:41 when i logged in it said reconnect to server, i knew right away someone was on my char. Also the last char it was on was my nub BL so whoever went through has gone through all my chars, not only did they take what wasnt binding, they took my Fb gloves i was selling too NFUWRGFRIGF rage, gonna go to gms, Venus, Wyrmbreath, bump add to list EDIT 2/4/12

ive heard that the majority of hackings are due to logging in on the main site with your account. Their main site IS NOT safe and secure, i would avoid logging in on the main site if at all possible, i did recently and next day my stuff is hacked.

No it doesn't have anything to do with what email provider they use regardless if its server integrity issues, they aren't stored separately depending on what email provider the account signed up with, the main site is subject to sql injections, thats how most databases' end up being compromised because they can access server files if they use the correct privilege levels during the injection. Injections commonly happen with error pages/login pages as they are most susceptible, but can happen to any insecure/flawed resource. I think this is direct correlation to the change in requesting a password between any page navigated or source requested on the main site. It's all speculation and given the current stance on the issue I would say either the GMs have no clue if the security was breached, or they don't want to publicly admit anything yet.

Either way given the past week or so and the events that have occurred, I would put my money on the database having been breached, possible md5 hashs being reversed for known phrases/keywords, or just brute forced ect. There is still a possibility it has nothing to do with the database security, and more so with a flaw in the client design - logging into other accounts without needing authorization of specific accts/sub pass's. In reality we won't know unless EST is honest about it. Otherwise we can just assume they don't have a clue, or are actively choosing to keep it quiet to protect whatever integrity of the servers and EST as a whole it feels the need to protect.

30+ Certainly isn't "mass hacking" but its beginning to look quite suspicious and targeted, I know a few who got hacked (kkr1424) if any of you know kim from ascension, or eridor her b/f were both stripped a few weeks ago during jan. Kim has her stuff taken and then the account was sub-pass failed to block her out on purpose. After getting the account unblocked she realized they had stripped it as well as eridors'.

If they had a packet logger, knew how to decrypt the packets, build and then re-encrypt the packets with a time-stamp and such, then it would be possible to exploit trade functions, and shops yes. Its not likely at all though, but then again neither is a database breach but its looking somewhat sketchy at the moment. If a person could send packets to the server and have them accepted I highly doubt they would be taking other peoples stuff, as you can imagine what they could do with...Taking others gears for alz would be pointless if you could do all the aforementioned tasks of having the server accept a packet thats constructed via a user and not the games assembly algorithm/encryption process.

Packet editing, and accessing the database via sql injection into the server are completely different. If they were accessing the DB I would expect to see a few things happening now, that are currently not happening; for example "mass hackings" with random/indiscriminate stripping of gear. The 30-35 current known cases doesn't give much credence to a db leak. It doesn't make much sense at the moment because the numbers are pretty low when scaled to the size of the db/number of active accounts.

It does raise a question about the possibility of a ingame exploit through a design flaw to obtain access to accounts that have possibly interacted in certain ways with the "hacker", or met certain conditions. It doesn't sound reasonable that they would go through a ingame exploit, then find your full email from the website (which is partly censored), and then on-top of that "hack" a email provider for that password? I'm willing to bet not everyone whos been stripped shared the same password with cabal as they did their main email, so no its not very probable at all. Just one instance of the 3 wouldn't be plausible at all, but it is possible; I don't think all of these players being stripped had anything to do with compromising their own account. There is too many for a random keylogger, but too few for a database leak at the moment... Falling in the middle there would suggest there is some exploit for sure we all know that, but I doubt anyone is breaching email providers and the cabal server, Lol. They do seem to be getting passed authorization though, regardless if they are actually using the real passwords/subpass's or just bypassing it somehow.

Well from wat i said aas a scenario from nexon, and it was like some cookie swapping or w/e on site. And a base32 exploit?

They probably cant do a " mass hacking " because it requires some type of interaction in game first before anything happens

You say sad, I say not even slightly surprising. I mean I was mad my stuff was gone but it was a surreal moment more than anything. I saw my character and instead of rage it was more along the lines of "This was bound to happen and I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner." The other half I won't be surprised about is if my stuff doesn't get refunded, not speaking ill of EST or anything, just wouldn't shock me in the slightest. there are also, amandaFB, xAutumX, Impetus, edream (full forcy wizzy amp+11, eos8, bos7, bod4, rw3..etc), xDarkLunar (full forcy FA amp) and a couple more but i cant remebmer right now. there are at least 10 ppl got hacked already just in apoc guild.

gm refuse to give itachi and edream gears back cuz,
the hacker used proxy to log on itachi acct = itachi uses proxy
edream plays cabal in her apartment and her parents house = 2 ip = edream share acct

In your current situation what I would do if I was you is I would be patient and wait for all of your tickets to clear up. (If I recall you can only send a max of 3 tickets at time (open tickets) ) Once that is done type out a formal message in Microsoft words detailing your current situation. An idea I might even add is find your IP address and include this in your HD ticket, Now the goal of this would be the GMs to track the IP address's that logged into your account. That would be a semi solid ground to prove that its not you rather someone else on your account. (There are some holes to the idea but hey it may work). I would also include the date(s)/time phrame in which you were hacked. This gives the GM's a time frame in which to look for the abnormal IP address.

Always remember this, You should not have more then 1 ticket open for the same problem period. Sending in 3 tickets with the same problem will not help you, in fact it might hurt your story esp. if two storys clash in anyways.

Anyways, this is the best I can do for ya bro. I wish ya luck, shoot me mail or pm where ever if ya need anymore help, I would be willing to help ya in anyway I can.

I did wait till the tickets were closed before I added a post. Each time, they just told me that it was resolved and to stop posting new tickets. That is not a bad idea, the problem is if my IP shows as the hacked accounts. I would not know how due to I do not and will not ever hack someone else's account. This is blame put on me based on their findings :( But I will take this info and use it. Thanks man.

I only reccemend people do this process because for things such as a ticket and what not they are formal (Well should be) so you want to type it out in a clean place where it will be easy to read and review. Once you feel its good enough, copy and paste it over to the HD ticket area.

airleZ/Zelria - Sometime between Dec 20th and Feb 8th. Venus server.
Have been on a break from Cabal (school and no computer of my own), logged on, and noticed my character naked, and all my stuff from inventory and warehouse gone, including all my alz.
What makes it even weirder, is my account got blocked due to sub pass error. But, as I said, I hadn't logged on, or tried to log on, since about Dec 20th.
All I know was I was angry as hell. Never been hacked before. Ever. In 3 years. Hopefully it can all get resolved :/

Since this is here, i havent played in a long time and last night i decide heck ill log on for a bit beat up some monsters check the auction house see if i can sell anything i get..well apparently my account is blocked, i message the gm and they tel me this

"After investigating the issue thoroughly and carefully, we were able to verify that your account has been involved with illegal alz activity. This type of activity is a violation of our policy and we have decided to take an action against your account."

which btw was not me, someone hacked it and did whatever illegal alz activity with it, so now i have to suffer and not be able to play my character which i spent alot of time on and the gm's refuse to listen to me saying
"we’ve decided to keep your account blocked permanently. Any tickets submitted in the future regarding this issue will be immediately considered as a duplicate ticket. Please refrain from sending any tickets regarding this issue."

so thats awesome...i cant play my account, an account which i spent a decent ammount of actual money on buying stuff from cash shop and spent alot of time leveling to umm..i think it was around 120 to 140 somewhere in that area because some one hacked my account in the time that i spent not playing the game. so i cant play and gms wont listen to me.

Mainly weapons, jewelry, and some armor, and stripped out the alz. My main account is blocked so no clue what's going on there. Of course that's were my guild master is in. Always had my stuff locked up. Seen to many friends being hacked. Watched the hackers take a guildy to channel 9 on Venus a year ago, and they stripped his characters out. Nothing I could do, but report it. I knew it wasn't him on at that time, because he was in the hospital. So this might do in Bad Company for sure. Stormy signing out.... :(

Its common for them to fail subpass intentionally after stripping to block the user out.

Just for moral support...

Wanted to let you guys know we're experiencing the same thing on the EU servers...

There is/was a lot of frustration for not being believed at first by our gm's. It was always our own fault that security was breeched.
But the volumes of hacked people has reached such an amount that clearly something else is going on. CABAL is currently being attacked on all regions. Entire guilds have folded up because their best players were hacked...
On the EU servers we're currently debating what or where the problem is, but it sure aint the lack of security on the players side....

There is something fishy going on, because accounts were breeched that even had their 3 subpasswords set (subpass char, bank and character locks). so even with a "captured" login in theory any normal player wouldnt have been able to access any of the gear. yet , it was all cleared out.

Pedro from Portugal? I don't think we need to classify one who steals accounts as "noobs". Need hack for play? Ofcourse given human nature using USD for gear, using 3rd party exploits are common in mmos. You don't play a large mmo and top weath rankings of 100,000s of players by playing legit just fyi. Everybody knows its against all TOS of all games to do such, but again its human nature. 54 people being "hacked" isn't a huge amount of accounts for the size of our server; however not everybody uses forums so thats worth noting.
