Alright so i have installed Cabal, but theres 2 problems. The first one is launching the cabal starter with the play button, check file, etc, I click the Cabal Online shortcut on my desktop and the only thing that happens is the update.exe in my taskmanager which does nothing at all but waste my time. When i can get tot the launcher and click play, nothing happens, everything terminates. I have done port fowarding, DEP, exceptions in virus program, and windows trouble shooting. Trouble shooting tells me that Cabal is incompadable with my computer, Windows 7. There is no guide that has helped me so far.

Also tried reinstalling without firewall/antivirus, and Combofix. Nothing works.

This thread pretty much sums up everything i would tell u to do. But it sounds like you are missing files. If you can use your check files or just try another re-download and make sure NOTHING is blocking files from being downloaded. Or try a download in safe mode with networking. And in DEP make sure u got the updater.exe/cabamain.exe/cabal.exe in the exception list.

Cabal works fine on win7, and using clean boot from msconfig.exe selective start up with no 3rd party services running, only microsoft related ones would be a good way to diagnose 3rd party services conflicting with the execution of cabal, also if your client doesn't even launch after clicking play now does it show 100% on downloaded information before you click play now, so the connection to the launcher successfully does the little mini update without any errors or "please restart launcher" message?

I tried a clean startup and i get the same crap. I get the launcher but it just crashes cabalmain.exe when i press start, or update.exe just stays in my taskmanager when i click on cabal online on the desktop. If i troubleshoot cabal, it says that the program is incompatible. WerFault.exe pops up in my taskmanager telling me that cabalmain.exe crashed. I installed around 4 times with run as admin and virus/firewall off, and I should have no corrupt files.

Still does not work, theres some problem with the program and my computer where cabal is not compatible, and every solution does not work for me.

I had one person experience this before as well, she was using hp laptop with a hp version of windows not a generic store bought version.

Are you getting the same Exception code: 0xc0000005? It appeared to be BEX (buffer overflow exception) everytime she tried to launch the client on the hp laptop operating system. After messing around and troubleshooting I gave up, she rebooted and it was working 2-3 days later so not sure what happened there...

If you already elevated privileges on the executable of cabal, and launcher; aswell as turned DEP off for all non microsoft services, disable UAC, and clean booted, then I would partition another 30-40gb of space into a logical drive(dont need 2, just split some gb from the main partition) then install a fresh copy of your windows to that drive just to see for sure if there is any possible changes to that o/s your using that was made by other software/services or user settings. Generally speaking most people don't have problems with w7 and cabal, what are you using 32 or 64 bit? I keep a second copy of windows installed on logical drive just to test new install ect make sure nothing I have on my normal windows is conflicting, its pretty quick and sure way to troubleshoot without having to clean boot, ofc at start up you'll always have to select which w7 you want to load, but other then that its worth it to me.

Yeah I have a HP, and the other is HP, but is there a solution or I have to wait until cabal has a fix for this?

Run disk management and then select your primary drive [c:] usually, right click the drive your using currently, and "shrink" the volume by whatever size you wish, I would recommend 20gb or 20,480mb(secondary windows install, you will be prompted which to launch at computer start up, will not affect your other install as long as you pick the new drives letter when installing windows).

Next click on the black unallocated space/green free space and create a "new simple volume", if you could do this and successfully install windows from your hp disc into that new partition you could pretty easily figure out if its operating system related or 3rd party software related, if the client won't run still on the freshly installed hp o/s; I would assume that would be indicative of the other 2 people that I was assisting with hp laptop designed o/s and could not launch, just result in windows error report with buffer overflow exception.

I did teamviewer with them both, one was able to resume playing the other never came back to forums I don't think, we both ran through the checklist of options to configure the o/s and elevate privileges but we were unable to launch, after 2-3 days and a reboot she notified me that it was working all the sudden, so I'm assuming its possible that there is some change in o/s designed for hp only hardware that results in problems with launching cabal, but its a very generic assumption probably.

I would attempt the new install of operating system for just cabal, if it fails to launch still you could either do teamviewer with me, or submit helpdesk ticket with bug report file attached. It would be epic if you could also obtain a normal copy of windows 64bit or 32 bit whichever, and test if cabal will function without any problems your experiencing on the current hp o/s. I used to have dell back in 2001 that came with dell designed o/s of windows xp, it was a pain with unique problems that other xp versions didn't have, not to mention the limitation to dell only parts which never have exactly been top of the line products.

Getting complicated, but I'll try it. I probably can get a normal copy somewhere.

Na its not complicated you can google how to create a new partition if the above directions were bland, then just install a 2nd fresh copy to that, if problem persists you could try using a normal version and see if you can produce successful launch with normal non hp designed operating system.

Create new partiton of 20gb/20,400mb
label/assign a letter to newly created partiton (E, F, G ect ect) that just you shrunk off the other main partition your using now
select new drive partition as windows install destination using cdrom boot at start up
when started with 2 versions, it will ask which operating system you wish to use; can always delete the fresh install one later if it doesn't give you any progress.

If problem persists even after install of new hp operating system copy, you can be pretty sure its not something your downloading/installing thats causing the problem, not sure if hp o/s come with pre-installed software like anti virus ect either.

Don't think 4gb will be enough to dl cabal and install after installing new windows, id try to free up atleast 20 gb so you dont run outta space. You got unusually small hd or somet?
