View Full Version : Anyone know if it's possible to make cabal run on Windows 8?
As stated in title. I had some video requests but I upgraded to windows 8 (it's actually not too bad btw), but every time I try to run cabal windows 8 crashes. Anyone know of a possible fix?

Try running it as administrator and setting it in compatability mode for windows 7 or earlier.

Maybe post the error message? UAC on?
CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED or something, then windows crashes.

Happens to mine to don't really think there's a way to fix it just run it again when you computer reboots but i think it can do with the antivirus i uninstalled Norton and put another antivirus on and it doesn't really crash anymore

I have Norton, and my error actually started BEFORE I got Norton though. Mine just happened when I first got it. It works now fine though, I think you just gotta hang in there and keep trying. Restart your computer and try running it as administrator.

At the beginning I remember my computer restarting out of the blue with cabal running but only happened like twice. I run really smooth now on windows 8 pro.
Problem solved! Thanks for the help guys, turns out my anti-virus was causing the problem. They must clash on windows 8 or something. After uninstalling it cabal works perfectly fine

Works fine for me at the moment, even with Norton and everything. My assumption, try checking Windows updates to make sure you are completely upgraded. Also make sure it's running the programs in windows 8. I would also try reinstalling.
Get your .NET Framework changed to 3.0 or 3.5

i get that SOMETIMES....not enough to cause a fuss about it, i run mine as admin...and i think compatibility
