I know he isn't lagging, it's a joke.
As for the gamma, it doesn't affect your screen if you're playing windowed mode. However, when you use a recording program (not sure if only fraps), it takes your gamma into consideration.

I thought you were smart enough to figure out the point of my explanation.
Nex doesn't see the screen like that because he most likely plays window screen'ed; thus, the gamma setting is not really what nex is seeing and playing with.
