Hi Community,

Some of you might be curious, on who or what the source of the attack is and was.

First of all, you might have noticed that we in the past have always persued in taking unfair subjects out of the game by simply banning cheating players and so on. Most recently, that was the case for quite a big group of chinese bots, and also some cheating players.

One of those players thought, it might be a good idea to ruin his life and attack us. This italian player, obviously having issues (no reference to the size of his , pen is don't get me wrong here) thought blackmailing us is the best way to proceed. The logic behind his demands is yet to be fully explained to me, as I simply don't understand his rather weird request in broken italian.

If you yet have no idea whom I'm talking about, the italian community might know the player as "imperator69", using the IP-Adresses:

So, will we unban his character? Hell no. There's a higher chance that pigs start flying over sicily, ting on his father's house. And with that said, I have to turn my attention now to our "legal department", so we can initiate further actions. (Note: punishment is roughly something up to 10 years imprisonment for an action like this. Knowing, that as a "side-effect" some other companies were also affected, I'm pretty sure it's getting close to that).

Now, this guy "Mikelefashion" (login-id... who chooses *that* kind of a name, seriously?) obviously should turn his attention in learning to clean his own clothes and pick up a soap-bar without being compromised, as those are skills that he might need in the near future.

Sounds like he blackmailed, and they traced his email to his IP and then told legal authorities and he was arrested.
Moral of the story, don't be an idiot and attempt to tamper with the servers, much less blackmail.

Since almost a week CABAL EU is under a DDos attack. At first impression it seems to be a frustrated "kid" that wants revenge, but GM and some of us players think there is much more behind it.

Since a few weeks GM received/made some new screening tools that seems to be very effective in weeding out the bots. And just before the attacks started, GM Renovatio admitted having "cleaned up" all the goldfarmers stashes, alz and accounts... So obviously, it is more in that direction, one of organised crime, that one has to look to find the motivation behind such a large scale attack.

to make it clear : a DDos attack is like causing a huge traffic jam at the servers ports/operation and involves thousands + of "enslaved" Pc (virus infected PC's) that work in a bot-net. The result is that players can no longer enter the game, due to the traffic congestion, and it often ends with the server going on its knees and rebooting...
Considering the involved scale of the attack,which is massive, it is clear that there is organised crime behind it and that GM is not dealing with some lonely cyber punk

It is a very serious offence and if they catch the guy(s) he's/they're in for a rough ride, legally...
As there was an attempt for blackmailing, that specific message was tracable to Sicily, Palermo...
Remains to be seen if that is indeed the place where he lives... Considering his obnoxious and taunting posts on the forum, it seems indeed to be an Italian, with a very poor understanding of english...
As far as we know from GM, no one has been caught yet.. but the wheels of justice are slow turning...

at this very moment , GM has brought down the servers (both game and forum) and is upgrading some hardware... prob in an attempt to stop the DDos attacks..

That is a horrible assumption. We block numerous amount of accounts each day. We blocked accounts based on our own investigation and player reports.

These Alz selling companies will continue to create massive amount of account and will always try to find a way to bypass our security measures. This issue can't just be resolved by blocking those accounts. Players need to stop purchasing Alz from these Third Party Websites.

Without the demand, there is no need to supply.

I've investigated the player you've reported.

Base on the information you've provided. This specific player was never reported until today. If you feel that there are players out there that are using Illegal Third Party programs, please do report them and not wait to use it as an ammo in an argument on our forum.

I was unable to gather any evidence that suggest the player you've reported had used any Illegal Third Party Program. If you have any video that may help, we'd truly appreciate it.

Whenever a server reboots unexpectedly, people active in dungeons will get booted, obviously. If they cant enter within the 9 mins, they loose their entry.
But also having oaths or anything else that can expire is lost...
You dont loose anything of your gear, as I believe that is registered into the dynamic database...
I'm no specialist in the matter , but i dont think they're attacking the database itself, but rather, cause a huge traffic congestion preventing access to the servers.
