Tired of all the lag?

Here's what we should do if you guys are sick and tired of this lag. Everyone should stop buying ecoins, basically boycott ESTsoft until they actually listen to us and do something about the server lag. Especially now with all the EU players comming to play, it will only get worse.

So here's an idea, no one buy ecoins for as long as it takes for them to upgrade the server to handle the higher amount of players, and increase the stability. Since they don't listen to us unless it involves money, this is probably the most effective way for us players to get EST to listen to us.

What say you, cabal community? Are you sick and tired of this lag? Your client disconnecting because of lag when you're in the middle of the dungeon or in the middle of war? I know I'm sick of it.

Did you not read my post? I'm all for an increased player base. But if an increased player base just means more lag and disconnects, that player base will shrink back down. WHAT I'M SAYING IS with the increased population they need to seriously work on the server stability.

Where is your evidence for that? Out of everyone I've seen quit, "because the server is laggy" has never been the reason. Perhaps there is a host of people quitting for that reason I am missing, however.

Also, I think you underestimate what it takes to run a game server. Cabal is a very old game and it's very likely they cannot distribute the load across many physical servers, and upgrading a central server gets *very* expensive at a certain point. How do we know neither of these is the case? We don't. Unless you are privy to the internal details of Cabal's server implementation.

Okay i kinda get what your stating, but it sounds so stupid and unrealistic.... boycotting isn't the answer. It's like trying to talk to that bot "GM Fluxxx", forget about it, its just not happening. I do have a great idea that could work on our server, setup all the channels like mission war based on tiers for example. Level 1-51 (this isn't a real tier this is just an example), 52-79, 80-109, 110-139, 140-169 and 170-190. That's one way you could setup all the channels instead of the numbering channels that we have now. Even that can stay just setup each tier with 5 or more channels to that pacific tier, for example tier 1-51 haves its own channels and 1 so on.

Have to agree with this, the only time I've lagged in the last few weeks was when I was relying on the in-game graphics options. Switched over to hardware overrides in the NVIDIA control panel and have been lag free since.

interesting. Hardware override actually helped? I've not really had issues with fps to effect my lag though. At home, it's really just because my internet takes too many hops to get to the main servers. I honestly wish they could expand to two branches, a west and east coast, that were connected to each other via some fiber cables that we as normal users don't have (large business type). That way east coast users could have less ping overall. I know some east coasters don't have as big a problem, but it seems that more south-eastern region is generally slower. A state further away with much faster net than at my parents, the ping is almost the same still as it was there.

There's really no good fix other than living much closer to the servers for east coast people. I've had 3 different internet providers down near Miami, but the ping still is about the same due to distance and hops.

I was speaking to the impracticality of having more than one server running an MMO. Especially geographically distant servers.

If you want to get rid of the lag for good, Require a client file check to run before login to prevent modded clients from communicating with EST servers....oh wait.

It was just a hunch. But I was getting lag spikes on a gtx 670 and 50mb/s connection, there's no excuse for Cabal to be lagging on my desktop , and I happen to know that ESTsoft is extremely lacking in the coding ability department so I tried it out and haven't had issues since.

As for fiber-optic connections, I live in a city that's getting Google fiber :cool:

Wish I knew what to do to fix the lag issues, for me it changes day to day. Some days I will have some crazy lag that d/cs me every couple minutes, and then on other days I have no issues at all.

Actually no, I'm using Windows 7 with a decent CPU/Dual GPU with 16GB RAM. Don't have an SSD yet because of affordability. Did I go AMD instead of Intel, yes... why? Because I got a Black Series GPU with an unlockable hex-core processor which is near equivalent to an i7 for a whole lot less $$. You sure you aren't typing while jerking off a .? ;)

I actually wouldn't be the least bit surprised if this did have any impact at all.

I still don't understand how hacking is so much fun to some people. Maybe for the developers of them, but the avg users...naive fools imo. There's not really any true advantage with hacks in cabal. You still have to take time to run dungeons and such. Sure it might be faster, but you still have the same rates of unluck as everyone else. And if indeed it slows down the network as a whole, then you're making it all more laggy for yourself too, regardless of hacks or not.

If only they had a better anti-hack program it'd probably be nicer. I know there's no such thing as hack-proof for games, but there are some out there that are quite efficient.

Since I don't buy bots, for the purpose that I rather fund the company that host the game so we don't have annoying kids screaming about lag while people spend that money for a bot that cause the lag and the host can't afford the server.
