what does being a platinum member do?

im new to the game and im curious about the member things.

do you need to be one of those members to experience the full game or can you still do just about the same stuff w/o being one.

You get more exp, skill exp, warping capabilities, and 10% higher drop rate. So you can basically go without it, but it will take you a little longer to level and do quests.
