I got the e-mail after registaring, clicked the link, got congratulated on activation, and I can't download or get to acct mgnt without the error saying I need to activate.
What gives?

Possible explanation:
You have either not transferred your account that you owned during OGP, or, if you never played back then, you have not agreed never to transfer it by pressing the "Give Up" button. To fix this, log in, then scroll down all the way to the bottom of the left sidebar. From there, just click on the button that says "transfer OGP data" or something similar.
If that doesn't work, just post back and I will continue to help as best I can.
