Benefits of Osmium: It's cheaper.

Benefits of SIGmetal: It is the best grade armor that uses high cores and often has 2 slot hp which is a major plus (if it's a suilt or boots).
Better than Osmium in terms of stats hands down.

Benefits of Forcium: Highest defensive stats in the game.

As far as the question of is the defense worth the loss of hp, I usually say SIG with hp and amp is worth getting where possible.
Forcium gloves and a SIG suit and boots is usually the ideal setup, with the helm being whatever you can get your hands on that is a potential 7/40 or a 40 dmg helm.
Hopefully the helm is at least Osmium grade.
